A Dark Night in the Garden

"A Dark Night in the Garden"

- 9/27/20 -

Three years of ministry had led up to this moment.  Jesus finished up dinner with his disciples, sang a song, and then walked to an olive garden.

But, really, it had been more than just those three years.  Jesus' whole life had led up to this moment.  This was why He had been born into the world.

But it was even bigger than that.  All of God's work in the world since the terrible lie had led up to this moment.  All of that story written in Scripture pointed to what Jesus was going to do.

The entire Bible like a map that leads to Jesus.  Jesus is the great rescuer.  He had come to rescue people from their sins and He would do so by being like the Passover Lamb.

Read the Story for Yourself!

Take a sec to read the story directly from God's Word!  You can find it in John 18.

A great way to read it is in the International Children's BIble (ICB) translation.  It's a simple and accurate Bible translation designed for kids.  Adults, like me, like it too!

"It was for this reason that I was born into the world."

Jesus was about to take into his heart all of the pain and brokeness of the world.  He was going to be punished for what everyone else had done wrong.  Surely, this was a horrible thing.

But it was ok, because this was all part of God's plan.  Jesus had been born into the world to take our place.  He had come so that those who believe in Him would not perish but have eternal life.

When Jesus died on the cross, He was totally innocent.  But God placed on Him all of your sins!  If you have believed in Jesus, the fact that He took your place gave you new hope and amazing grace!
